Mumbai’s Crime Branch today arrested Salmanbhai Iqbalbhai Vohra, a resident of Gujarat, in connection with the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddiqui. Vohra was apprehended from Balapur in Akola, Maharashtra, with assistance from local police.
The arrest brings the total number of people detained in this high-profile case to 25. Vohra, who hails from Petlad in Gujarat’s Anand district, is accused of financially aiding other suspects involved in Siddiqui’s assassination. According to a Crime Branch official, Vohra opened a bank account in May to fund key suspects, including Naresh Kumar Singh, Gurmail Singh, Rupesh Mohol, and Harish Kumar.
Following Siddiqui’s murder, Haryana resident Gurmail Singh and Uttar Pradesh native Dharmaraj Kashyap were apprehended from the crime scene. Recently, police also arrested the main shooter, Shiv Kumar Gautam, from Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, while he was attempting to flee to Nepal. Gautam had been on the run since October 12.
The investigation into Siddiqui’s murder is ongoing, with authorities working to trace further links in the case. Police are confident that Vohra’s arrest will provide crucial information about the conspiracy and other individuals involved.
