Tech giant Google hosted its annual mega event, Google I/O 2024, with several groundbreaking announcements. The event was inaugurated by Google CEO Sundar Pichai, who highlighted the company’s latest advancements, particularly focusing on its large language model, Gemini AI.

Gemini AI Expands into Google Workspace

Sundar Pichai announced that Gemini AI will be integrated into Google Workspace. This integration aims to enhance user experience and search engine efficiency across applications like Gmail and Google Meet, promising significant time savings for users. New Gemini AI experiences are expected to roll out by the end of the year.

New Feature: Ask Photos

A new feature called Ask Photos has been introduced for Google Photos. Leveraging the capabilities of Gemini Models, this feature allows users to search for photos and videos effortlessly.

AI Video Model VEO Launched

Google unveiled its new generative video AI model, VEO, during the event. This model can create high-quality 1080p videos in a cinematic style from text prompts. VEO will be available on a platform called VideoFX.

Introducing Gemini 1.5 Flash

Google also launched Gemini 1.5 Flash, a lightweight and cost-efficient version of their AI model. The Gemini 1.5 Flash is designed to be faster and supports up to one million tokens, similar to the Pro model.

Imagen 3 for Enhanced Photo Detail

Imagen 3, another AI model announced at the event, promises to create photos with superior detail, providing natural and human-like details of signals. Sign-ups for Imagen 3 began today at ImageFX and will soon be available to developers and enterprise customers.

Project Astra: Universal AI Agent

Google introduced Project Astra, described by Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis as a universal AI agent designed to assist with everyday life tasks. This innovative project showcases Google’s commitment to advancing AI technology to enhance daily human activities.
