A four-storey building collapsed near Oscar Public School in Burari, North Delhi, yesterday evening, leaving several people trapped under the debris. Rescue teams have so far rescued ten individuals, including two girls aged 14 and six. All the injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

According to Delhi Fire Services officer Atul Garg, the incident occurred around 6:56 pm. Police, fire brigade, DDMA, and NDRF teams swiftly initiated relief and rescue operations. “Nine fire tenders have been deployed, and efforts are ongoing to locate anyone still trapped under the rubble,” Garg said. Initial reports suggest the collapse was caused by a weak building structure, though investigations are underway.

The area has been sealed off by the police to ensure public safety. Former Chief Minister and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal expressed sorrow over the incident, describing it as tragic. In a social media post, he said, “This is a very sad incident. I have directed our MLA from Burari, Sanjeev Jha, to assist in the relief operations and ensure all possible help for the affected families.”

Rescue teams continue their efforts to search for survivors as the investigation into the cause of the collapse proceeds.
