Former Rajasthan minister and member of the erstwhile royal family of Bharatpur, Vishvendra Singh, has filed a legal complaint against his wife and son, accusing them of severe mistreatment and expulsion from his home. Singh, 62, claims his wife, Divya Singh, and son, Anirudh Singh, subjected him to physical and verbal abuse, deprivation of food, and destruction of his personal belongings. He alleges that he has been living a nomadic life since being expelled from his home years ago.
In his application filed under the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007, at a sub-divisional magistrate’s court, Singh cited his heart disease and depression, aggravated by the lack of care after contracting Covid-19 twice. He is seeking Rs 5 lakh per month as maintenance and the transfer of ownership of the palace and all ancestral assets to him.
Singh contends that numerous valuable ancestral items are currently held by his wife and son. He asserts that the family dispute began when he attempted to sell the Moti Mahal palace, leading to increased tensions.
In response, Divya Singh, a former Bharatpur MP, and Anirudh Singh have refuted all allegations, accusing Vishvendra of tarnishing their image and harassing them. They claim he has sold significant portions of the ancestral property and that his legal actions are an attempt to pressure the authorities into ruling in his favor. Anirudh maintains that their lawyer is diligently attending court hearings, while Vishvendra seeks delays.
Both Divya and Anirudh dismiss the accusations as false, arguing that if Vishvendra had truly been assaulted, he should have contacted the police. The legal battle continues, with each side presenting their version of the events.
