In a press statement today, Punjab Kisan Mazdoor General Secretary, Sarwan Singh Pandher, reiterated the farmers’ demand for a legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP). Emphasizing a commitment to a ‘peaceful’ approach, Pandher announced that only leaders, not all farmers, would participate in the ‘Delhi Chalo’ march.

“We have decided that no farmer, youth will move forward. Leaders will march to Delhi. We will not attack our soldiers. We will walk in peace. All this can end if the central government enacts a law on MSP,” stated Pandher.

The assurance of a non-confrontational stance aims to convey a peaceful resolution to the ongoing agitation. Pandher stressed the importance of addressing farmers’ concerns through legislation, particularly focusing on MSP, which remains a pivotal point of contention.

The farmers’ leader’s statement reflects a strategic and disciplined approach, seeking a constructive dialogue with the central government. As discussions on agricultural policies continue, the farmers’ march to Delhi becomes a significant moment in the broader context of the farmers’ movement.
