A major update has emerged regarding farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who has been on a hunger strike. He has now been shifted from Jalandhar to a private hospital in Patiala. According to sources, he is being treated on the fourth floor of the hospital. Earlier, he was kept at the PWD Rest House in Jalandhar after being detained on March 19.
High Court Issues Notice to Punjab Government
The Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued a notice to the Punjab government regarding the action taken against Dallewal. The petition was filed by Bharatiya Kisan Union (Doaba) president Gurmukh Singh, who argued that the action against Dallewal was illegal. The High Court has asked the Punjab government to respond by Monday. Additionally, the court has sought a status report from the Director General of Police (DGP) of Punjab.
Dallewal’s Detention and Movement
Jagjit Singh Dallewal was detained by Punjab Police on Wednesday in Mohali after his meeting with central government officials. Initially, he was taken to Patiala and later moved to Jalandhar. Now, he has been shifted from the PWD Guest House in Jalandhar Cantt to a private hospital in Patiala for medical treatment.
The developments surrounding Dallewal’s detention and health have drawn significant attention from farmers’ organizations and political leaders. His supporters continue to demand his release and fair treatment. The High Court’s intervention has now added legal pressure on the Punjab government to justify its actions.
