In a series of unfortunate events today, Punjab’s Khanna witnessed three back-to-back accidents on the National Highway, spanning a mere 100 yards, all attributed to dense fog. Approximately 20 vehicles became entangled in the collisions, resulting in chaos and a subsequent closure of the National Highway bridge near Rajgarh.
Fortunately, amidst the wreckage, there were no reported casualties, offering a silver lining to the otherwise perilous situation. The initial mishap on the bridge involved a tanker, setting off a chain reaction as four to five vehicles collided in its aftermath.
Responding promptly, the police descended on the scene to clear the road, only to be met with more collisions within close proximity. Meanwhile, another accident unfolded at a distance, further exacerbating the traffic snarl. Superintendent of Police Nikhil Garg, who arrived at the scene, urged caution during dense fog, emphasizing the importance of reduced speed for everyone’s safety.
As a precautionary measure, traffic was rerouted to the service lane, circumventing the affected National Highway bridge. Authorities are now working diligently to restore normalcy to the area, urging the public to exercise patience and adhere to safety guidelines during adverse weather conditions.
