The Delhi High Court has asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to respond to the bail applications of the owners of a basement in Old Rajinder Nagar, where three civil services examination candidates tragically drowned in July this year. Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma issued notices to the CBI regarding the bail pleas of Parvinder Singh, Tejinder Singh, Harvinder Singh, and Sarabjit Singh, the four owners of the basement.
The incident, which claimed the lives of three young aspirants, has been described as “very unfortunate” by Justice Sharma. The court noted the gravity of the situation and the distress it has caused within the community. The four accused have already been in custody for nearly six weeks as investigations continue.
The basement, located in a popular coaching center area, became the site of the tragic incident, raising serious concerns about safety and negligence. The High Court’s decision to seek the CBI’s response on the bail applications reflects the complexity and seriousness of the case. The CBI is expected to file its reply, after which the court will decide on the next steps regarding the bail requests.
