The Delhi High Court has extended the interim protection from arrest granted to ex-IAS probationer Pooja Khedkar until October 4. Khedkar is facing a criminal case for alleged fraud and wrongful use of the OBC and disability quotas.
On Thursday, Khedkar’s lawyer requested additional time to respond to the charges filed by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Both the UPSC and the Delhi Police have opposed her plea for anticipatory bail, urging the court to dismiss her request before any potential arrest.
Earlier, on August 12, the High Court issued a notice regarding Khedkar’s anticipatory bail plea and granted her interim protection from arrest, which has since been extended multiple times. The Delhi Police, in their submission, argued that granting any relief to Khedkar could undermine the investigation and have broader implications for public trust and the integrity of the civil services examination system.
The case revolves around serious allegations of misrepresentation, and the court is now reviewing both sides’ arguments to determine whether to continue or deny Khedkar’s bail plea in the coming hearings.
