A Delhi court has ordered the release of Lok Sabha member Sheikh Abdul Rashid, commonly known as Engineer Rashid, from Baramulla in Jammu and Kashmir. Rashid, who was arrested in connection with a terror funding case, was granted interim bail by Additional Sessions Judge Chandrajit Singh. The court’s decision was made public today.
Rashid had been in custody as part of ongoing investigations into allegations of terror funding. His legal team had filed a petition for bail, which the court has now granted on an interim basis, allowing his temporary release from custody.
The decision on whether Rashid will be granted regular bail is still pending. The court has scheduled the hearing for October 5, when a final ruling on his regular bail petition will be made. Until then, Engineer Rashid remains free under the conditions of his interim bail.
This development marks a significant moment in the case, as the court continues to deliberate on the evidence presented against the MP from Jammu and Kashmir. Rashid’s release is closely watched, given the serious nature of the charges against him.
