On October 29, the Delhi court ordered a fresh investigation against former Indian cricketer and current head coach Gautam Gambhir and others in a case involving alleged fraud against flat buyers. Special Judge Vishal Gogne overturned an earlier order from the Magistrate Court, which had acquitted Gambhir. Judge Gogne emphasized the need for a deeper probe into Gambhir’s role, given his previous position as the director and brand ambassador of the project.

The case stems from complaints filed by investors who accused real estate firms—Rudra Buildwell Realty Pvt Ltd, HR Infrastructure Pvt Ltd, and UM Architecture and Contractors Ltd—of fraud. Gambhir, as director and brand ambassador for the project, had direct interactions with investors, promoting the joint real estate venture. Judge Gogne noted that Gambhir’s involvement could require further examination under the allegations, especially since he was previously cleared.

In light of these developments, the court’s order directs law enforcement agencies to revisit evidence and investigate Gambhir’s role in more detail. This marks a significant step, as the decision could impact other public figures associated with similar projects and serve as a precedent for investor-related cases in the real estate sector.
