Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court has sent Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to 14 days of judicial custody in connection with the liquor policy corruption case, following a request from the CBI. During the hearing, the CBI sought 14 days of judicial custody for Kejriwal, which the court accepted. Kejriwal will be produced before the court via video conferencing at 2 PM on July 12.
After the expiration of the three-day custody period, Kejriwal was presented in court by the CBI on Saturday. Special Judge Sunena Sharma initially reserved her decision on the petition to send Kejriwal to jail, later ordering him to 14 days of judicial custody.
The Chief Minister of Delhi was arrested by the CBI in connection with irregularities in his government’s liquor policy. On March 21, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) also arrested him in a money laundering case. Recently, Kejriwal was granted bail by a lower court, which was subsequently stayed by the Delhi High Court.
This development marks a significant turn in the ongoing investigations into the alleged corruption and money laundering activities linked to the Delhi government’s liquor policy, bringing intense scrutiny on Kejriwal’s administration.
