Cyclonic storm Dana caused significant rain and infrastructure damage in Odisha and West Bengal, but these states managed to avoid severe impacts. With air and rail services resuming today, life is gradually returning to normal as the storm’s effects subside. The cyclone brought heavy rainfall, causing trees and electric poles to fall, disrupting transportation and power in several areas.

Odisha’s Chief Minister confirmed that there have been no reported fatalities in the state. However, West Bengal’s Chief Minister reported that two people lost their lives due to the storm. According to the Meteorological Department, Cyclone Dana reached the coast of Odisha at around 8:30 a.m., completing an eight-and-a-half-hour landfall process. During its arrival at 12:05 a.m., the storm recorded wind speeds of up to 110 kilometers per hour, causing substantial rainfall and gusts across affected areas.

Officials are working to restore normalcy by clearing blocked roads, fixing fallen power lines, and assisting affected residents. With public services now back in operation, the focus has shifted to cleanup and recovery, with authorities in both states working to repair damages and support those impacted by Cyclone Dana.
