In a bid to address the concerns of laborers across the nation, the Congress party has announced five key guarantees aimed at securing the future of workers. These promises, if implemented, are poised to eliminate risks and insecurities from the lives of laborers, paving the way for a more stable and prosperous future.
Right to Health: Congress vows to enact a ‘Right to Health’ law, ensuring free testing, medicine, and treatment for all citizens.
Labor Respect: A national minimum wage of ₹400 per day is proposed, covering all workers, including those under the MNREGA scheme.
Urban Employment Guarantee Act: The party pledges to create new employment opportunities in cities, focusing on infrastructure development and climate change initiatives.
Social Security: Congress promises to provide social security, including life and accident insurance, for workers in the unorganized sector.
Secure Employment: The party plans to review and amend anti-labor laws introduced by the Modi government, halt contract work in crucial government projects, and extend social security benefits to contract workers in the private sector.
By granting these rights to the workforce, Congress aims to strengthen the foundation of nation-building and empower those who have contributed significantly to India’s growth. The party believes that economically empowered and socially secure workers will drive productivity, accelerate economic growth, and ultimately become the backbone of the nation.
