In a dramatic turn of events, Dalveer Singh Goldi, President of the Congress Party in Sangrur and former MLA of Dhuri, faced the Vigilance office in Sangrur today in connection with a complaint lodged against him. Unyielding in his stance, Goldi addressed reporters, asserting that his allegiance lies solely with his principles and the Guru, firmly stating that he will not bow to anyone else.
Addressing corruption allegations, Goldi declared his commitment to utilizing his income in the upcoming 2022 assembly elections and subsequent Lok Sabha elections, vouching for transparency by submitting a written affidavit. He boldly declared that any excess property or money beyond the affidavit would lead him to publicly bow his head.
Denouncing the allegations as a conspiracy to tarnish his reputation, Goldi challenged authorities to prove corruption charges and demanded a public apology if found innocent. Shedding light on the financial constraints faced by constituency MLAs, he emphasized that government funds are managed by officials and spent in villages, with every expenditure subject to scrutiny.
Goldi expressed willingness to face investigation and put forth officers from the last five years if manipulation allegations arise. Firmly asserting the potential for officials to act under government pressure, he affirmed his confidence in the judiciary to ensure a fair trial.
The Vigilance Department’s request for property details in Sangrur and Barnala prompted Goldi to call for transparency, urging them to make any received information public. Despite ongoing harassment of his relatives and attempts to thwart their activities, Goldi remained resolute, confirming his intent to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Sangrur.
Alleging threatening calls directed at him and his father, Goldi informed higher police officials, expressing concern about potential harm to life or property. In a defiant tone, he warned that any such consequences would be the responsibility of officers and the government. Amidst this controversy, Goldi was joined by other party leaders who stood by him during this challenging period.
