The Congress party today announced the launch of a special fellowship program named after former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. Under this initiative, 50 professionals from across India will be selected every year and trained to become future leaders with the aim of building a modern and progressive India.
The fellowship is designed for mid-career professionals who have strong potential and are willing to contribute to public life. These individuals will be mentored and trained by senior Congress leaders who will share their experience, vision, and political understanding. The goal is to prepare a new generation of leaders who can help shape India’s future with fresh ideas and a strong sense of public service.
Speaking at the launch, Congress MP and former party president Rahul Gandhi said, “The time has come to bring the sharpest minds of India into politics. The Dr. Manmohan Singh Fellows Program is an invitation to mid-career professionals to step into public life, lead with integrity, and contribute to building an inclusive and progressive India.”
Rahul Gandhi emphasized the importance of combining knowledge, expertise, and ethical leadership to solve India’s challenges. He said the fellowship represents the values of Dr. Singh—honesty, intelligence, and dedication to the nation.
This move by the Congress party is seen as a strategic effort to attract educated and skilled professionals into the political mainstream. It also reflects the party’s intent to modernize its leadership base and connect with younger, reform-minded citizens.
Applications for the fellowship will open soon, and the selected fellows will undergo structured training in leadership, policy-making, and public service, while working closely with experienced party leaders on real-world political challenges.
