CJI Chandrachud is set to retire on November 10, after serving a notable term. Justice Sanjiv Khanna, currently a judge of the Supreme Court of India, is next in line for the top judicial position. His appointment as Chief Justice will be confirmed once the Union government approves the recommendation made by CJI Chandrachud.

Justice Sanjiv Khanna has had a distinguished judicial career, having delivered several important judgments during his tenure. His elevation as Chief Justice of India will mark a continuation of the tradition of selecting senior judges to lead the judiciary.

If approved, Justice Khanna will serve as the 51st Chief Justice of India, succeeding CJI Chandrachud, and will continue to uphold the principles of justice and constitutional integrity in the country.
