Punjab Chief Secretary Anurag Verma has issued a directive for the prompt completion of construction works in the vicinity of the International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh, ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) matches. Emphasizing the government’s commitment to enhancing sports infrastructure in the state, Chief Secretary Verma chaired a meeting with officials from Pudda, Gamada, and representatives of the Punjab Cricket Association.
Verma stressed the significance of daily progress reports on ongoing engineering and civil works, with the next review scheduled for March 4. The Mullanpur Cricket Stadium is set to host a P.L. match on March 23. The Chief Secretary highlighted the government’s dedication to both sports and urban development, urging the timely completion of access roads and bridges leading to the stadium to foster the area’s growth.
While promoting a sports culture, Verma emphasized the importance of maintaining construction standards without compromise. Present at the meeting were Pudda C.A. Apneet Rayat, Gamada C.A. Rajeev Kumar Gupta, Chief Engineer Balwinder, Chief Town Planner Mandeep Kaur, and Punjab Cricket Association Secretary Dilsher Khanna. The government aims to elevate the stature of the new international cricket stadium in New Chandigarh through meticulous infrastructure development.
