The central government has dispatched 90 additional companies of security forces to Manipur following recent incidents of violence in the state. This step aims to restore order and ensure the safety of residents in sensitive and troubled areas.
Kuldeep Singh, Chief Security Advisor to the Manipur government, revealed that 258 lives have been lost since caste-based violence erupted in May last year. Speaking to the media during a security review meeting, he highlighted ongoing efforts to protect lives and property.
To strengthen coordination and improve response, joint control rooms and joint coordination committees have been established in 16 districts across the state. These measures are expected to facilitate better communication and quicker action in affected regions.
The deployment of additional forces underscores the Centre’s commitment to stabilizing the situation. However, the violence, which has deeply affected communities, remains a major concern.
The state and central administrations are working together to restore peace and prevent further escalation. The public awaits effective implementation of these measures to bring long-term stability to Manipur.
