Centre Approves ₹1,554.99 Crore Aid for Disaster-Hit States

The central government has approved additional financial assistance of ₹1,554.99 crore under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) for five states affected by floods, landslides, and cyclonic storms in 2024. The decision was taken by a high-level committee headed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

According to an official statement, the approved funds will help states recover from natural disasters and support relief and rehabilitation efforts. Andhra Pradesh will receive the highest amount, ₹608.08 crore, followed by Odisha with ₹255.24 crore, Telangana with ₹231.75 crore, Tripura with ₹288.93 crore, and Nagaland with ₹170.99 crore.

This financial aid comes after the central government assessed the extent of damage in these states. The assistance is meant to support ongoing relief operations, including rebuilding infrastructure and providing aid to affected people.

The government has assured that it remains committed to helping disaster-hit states through financial and logistical support. The release of funds under NDRF highlights the Centre’s efforts to strengthen disaster response and provide timely assistance to states facing natural calamities. Authorities will work closely with state governments to ensure effective utilization of the approved funds.
