The University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced that central universities can now fill their vacant undergraduate and postgraduate seats based on their own entrance exams or eligibility exam scores if they are not filled through CUET. According to UGC officials, this decision aims to provide maximum opportunities for students and reduce the number of vacant seats in universities.
As a result, students who could not participate in CUET or who did not score well in it can still gain admission to central universities. This move benefits both students and universities by introducing flexibility in the admission process and offering students a chance to pursue quality higher education. The UGC plans to issue guidelines to universities soon for implementing this decision. This approach will ensure that more students have access to educational opportunities and help universities optimize their resources by filling available seats.
