A bomb threat disrupted a Varanasi-bound IndiGo flight at the Indira Gandhi International Airport on Tuesday morning, prompting an immediate evacuation and a thorough search operation by authorities.
The threat was discovered when the pilot of flight 6E2211 noticed a piece of paper in the lavatory with the ominous message, “bomb blast @ 30 minutes.” The pilot swiftly reported the incident to the control room, leading to a swift response from security agencies.
There were 176 passengers on board at the time. Following standard protocol, all passengers were deboarded safely, and the aircraft was moved to an isolated area to facilitate a detailed anti-sabotage check. Despite the seriousness of the threat, no suspicious items were found during the search.
The incident caused significant alarm and disrupted flight schedules, but authorities emphasized the importance of safety and security measures in such situations. Officials confirmed that all necessary precautions were taken to ensure passenger safety, and they are investigating the source of the threat.
This scare highlights ongoing security challenges and the need for vigilance in aviation security. The passengers were eventually accommodated on alternative flights, resuming their journeys with some delay but in safety.
