The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has called upon the Election Commission to take decisive action against Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Piyush Panda for purported racist remarks made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during an election rally in West Bengal. The BJP delegation, in a meeting with the Election Commission, pressed for the registration of a case against Panda and demanded a ban on his campaigning activities.
Additionally, the BJP filed a complaint against TMC social media in-charge Debganshu Bhattacharya for allegedly disclosing personal information about Rekha Patra, the BJP candidate from West Bengal’s Bashirhat Lok Sabha constituency, on a social media platform. The party accused Bhattacharya of sharing Patra’s personal details on ‘X’, prompting concerns over privacy and security.
These developments mark a further escalation in the ongoing political tensions in West Bengal ahead of the upcoming elections. The BJP’s demands underscore its commitment to ensuring fair and ethical conduct during the electoral process, while also highlighting the need for accountability and responsibility among political leaders and their associates.
