BJP Triumphs in Municipal Elections: Kuljit Singh Sandhu Elected Senior Deputy Mayor

In a decisive victory on Monday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) celebrated as their candidate, Kuljit Singh Sandhu, secured 19 out of 36 votes in the Municipal Corporation House election for the senior deputy mayor position. The election, presided over by newly appointed Mayor Kuldeep Kumar, witnessed stringent security measures both inside and outside the Municipal Corporation building.

The AAP-Congress India alliance’s candidate, Gurpreet Singh Gabi, garnered 16 votes, with one vote being rejected. The intense competition underscored the political dynamics at play within the city.

Adding to their success, the BJP’s Rajinder Sharma emerged victorious in the election for Deputy Mayor, securing 19 votes against Nirmala Devi of the ‘India’ alliance, who received 17 votes. The margin of victory showcased the party’s influence in the Municipal Corporation.

The voting process was marked by a significant moment as Member of Parliament Kiran Kher cast her vote in the morning session, emphasizing the importance of the elections. The results reflect a strategic political shift in the city’s leadership, positioning the BJP at the forefront of municipal affairs.
