The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unveiled its third list of candidates on Thursday, with a focus on Tamil Nadu. Nine candidates from the state have been announced, including Tamilisai Sundararajan, former governor of Telangana, who has been nominated for the Chennai South constituency. The BJP’s strategic allocation of seats in Tamil Nadu, comprising 39 Lok Sabha constituencies, underscores the party’s electoral ambitions in the southern state.
Of the 39 seats, 10 have been allocated to the PMK, further solidifying the BJP-led alliance’s presence in the region. With this latest announcement, the BJP has now revealed candidates for a total of 276 Lok Sabha seats.
The party’s electoral preparations commenced with the release of its first list on March 2, comprising 195 candidates. Notable figures such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh featured prominently in this initial list. Subsequently, the second list was unveiled on March 13, featuring 72 candidates, including prominent leaders like Nitin Gadkari, Piyush Goyal, and Anurag Thakur.
As the election campaign gains momentum, the BJP’s candidate selection process reflects a meticulous approach aimed at maximizing electoral gains across diverse regions. With the release of each list, the party’s electoral strategy becomes clearer, setting the stage for a closely contested electoral battle in the upcoming polls.
