In a significant political move ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, BJP Member of Parliament from Hisar, Brijender Singh, tendered his resignation from the party’s primary membership and stepped down from the Lok Sabha. Notably, he crossed party lines to join the Congress.
Brijender Singh, the son of influential Haryana Jat leader and former Union Minister Birendra Singh, cited “political reasons” for his departure from the BJP. The development marks a notable shift in political allegiances as Singh embraced the Congress party.
Congress treasurer Ajay Maken, speaking from New Delhi, announced that Brijender Singh’s father and BJP leader Birender Singh are expected to follow suit, joining the Congress in the coming days. Immediately after his resignation announcement, Brijender Singh headed to the residence of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge in the national capital, formalizing his entry into the Congress fold.
The event witnessed the presence of senior Congress leaders, including Mukul Wasnik and Deepak Babria, signifying the strategic importance of this political move in the lead-up to the forthcoming elections.
