Hans Raj Hans, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s candidate for the Faridkot Lok Sabha constituency, encountered resistance from farmers during his inaugural visit today. Upon receiving the party’s ticket, Hans embarked on a caravan tour, commencing with a visit to Tilla Baba Farid to pay his respects.
However, his visit was met with opposition from local farmers, who expressed their disapproval at various points along the route. Leaders representing farmers’ organizations halted Hans Raj Hans’s caravan at several locations within the city, raising slogans and displaying black flags to convey their dissent. They demanded that Hans Raj Hans leave Faridkot immediately.
Despite the protests, the caravan proceeded under police supervision, with officers intervening to ensure the safe passage of Hans Raj Hans. Some farmers were reportedly detained by the police during the demonstrations, although they were released shortly thereafter.
The confrontation highlights the contentious relationship between Hans Raj Hans and local farmers, setting the stage for potential tensions as the election campaign unfolds in the Faridkot constituency.
