Former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal will face legal action in a defamation case concerning his remarks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s educational qualifications. The Supreme Court, in a decision by a bench comprising Justice Rishikesh Roy and Justice SVN Bhatti, dismissed Kejriwal’s petition seeking to stay the summons issued in the case.

The defamation case was filed by Gujarat University Registrar Piyush Patel, who took issue with Kejriwal’s allegedly sarcastic and insulting comments about Prime Minister Modi’s degrees. AAP leader Sanjay Singh has also been named in the case. The Gujarat Metropolitan Court had earlier summoned both leaders to appear in connection with the defamation charges.

Kejriwal had questioned the authenticity of Modi’s educational qualifications, leading to the defamation suit. The Supreme Court’s decision clears the way for the case to proceed in court.

This legal battle adds another layer to the ongoing political friction between AAP and the BJP. The case will now move forward in Gujarat’s courts, where Kejriwal and Sanjay Singh are expected to defend their remarks against the allegations made by Gujarat University.
