Parliamentarian Ravneet Bittu, former minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu, district Congress president Sanjay Talwar, and Sham Sundar Malotra, arrested in connection with locking the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation office, faced a local court today. Bittu’s lawyers vehemently protested the arrest, deeming it illegal and asserting that Bittu has not been properly investigated in the case, urging the court to grant bail.
After hearing arguments from both sides, the court decided to send the four individuals to jail for 14 days and issued a one-day notice to the police regarding their bail. Ravneet Bittu, who had announced his impending arrest on March 5, was taken into custody today when he, along with supporters, headed to the D.C. office for the arrest. This development follows their recent act of locking the municipal office, which led to the filing of an FIR. The situation continues to unfold, shedding light on the intersection of political activism and legal consequences.
