Union Home Minister Amit Shah today said that the government is deploying electronic surveillance systems to enhance border security and stop terrorist infiltration in Jammu and Kashmir. He stated that modern technology will also be used to detect and destroy underground tunnels near the border.
During his visit to the ‘Vinay’ border post in the Hiranagar sector of Kathua district, Shah addressed BSF personnel. He praised their dedication and courage in serving under challenging conditions. “We are installing electronic surveillance systems at the borders with two models, so that any enemy activity can be detected and responded to immediately,” he said.
He emphasized the importance of using advanced tools to identify and neutralize underground tunnels, which are often used by infiltrators. Shah appreciated the BSF’s year-round efforts to protect the nation’s borders and acknowledged the real challenges faced only by those who visit such sites in person.
He further stated that the BSF has a proud history and its contribution is recognized across the country. Highlighting BSF’s crucial role, he mentioned that their efforts during past wars with Pakistan were equal to those of the army. The Home Minister also conducted an aerial survey of the border area via helicopter.
