Union Home Minister Amit Shah has emphasized the need to bring fugitives involved in national security cases to justice, even in their absence. Speaking during a review meeting with a delegation from the Madhya Pradesh government, Shah underlined the importance of enforcing the Indian Civil Security Code, which includes provisions for such trials.
He stressed that fugitives evading justice harm the integrity of the nation and must face legal consequences. Shah also appreciated Madhya Pradesh’s efforts in implementing the three new criminal laws introduced by the Modi government and urged the state to achieve 100% implementation promptly.
The Home Minister highlighted the need to deliver justice within three years from the filing of an FIR to the final verdict in the Supreme Court. He remarked that these reforms aim to modernize and expedite India’s justice system.
Shah also addressed the necessity of a strong legal aid framework to support the underprivileged. He stated that providing adequate legal representation to the poor is a government responsibility. For this, he advocated for specialized training programs to ensure that justice is accessible to all sections of society.
The meeting marked a significant step in reviewing the implementation of the revamped criminal laws aimed at strengthening national security and ensuring justice for every citizen. Shah’s call for swift and efficient legal processes reflects the government’s commitment to reforming the judiciary for a secure and equitable future.
