In a significant development, the alliance between Dushyant Chautala’s Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Haryana has shattered, plunging the state into political uncertainty. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar tendered his resignation on Tuesday, alongside his ministerial colleagues, citing irreconcilable differences over seat distribution for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The rift between the parties deepened as negotiations faltered over the allocation of seats, with JJP pressing for a share of 1 to 2 constituencies, which BJP staunchly opposed, insisting on contesting all 10 seats independently. Despite efforts, talks between Dushyant Chautala and BJP’s National President, J.P. Nadda, on Monday failed to salvage the alliance.
The breakdown comes amidst escalating tensions between the coalition partners, with BJP’s steadfast stance on contesting all seats clashing with JJP’s aspirations for representation. As Chief Minister Khattar submitted his resignation to Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, the political landscape of Haryana braces for upheaval, marking a pivotal moment in the state’s electoral dynamics.
