An Air India flight from Mumbai to New York was forced to return to Mumbai airport today after a bomb threat was reported onboard. The threat was discovered when a letter was found in the plane’s toilet, warning about a possible bomb.
The aircraft, carrying more than 320 passengers, made a safe landing at Mumbai airport, where security agencies immediately took over. Passengers were quickly evacuated, and a thorough inspection of the aircraft was conducted.
Authorities confirmed that no suspicious object was found during the search. “Nothing suspicious was found during the investigation, and the matter is being further investigated,” an official said.
Security personnel are now trying to identify the person responsible for the hoax threat. A case will be registered against the unidentified individual, and strict action will be taken.
False bomb threats not only create panic but also lead to delays and security concerns. Passengers expressed relief after learning that it was a false alarm but were frustrated by the disruption to their journey.
Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage and passenger records to trace the source of the letter. Meanwhile, the airline is coordinating with authorities to ensure the safety of all future flights.
