23 March
Sandeep Dhand Ludhiana
Amidst the ongoing turmoil surrounding the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), leaders and workers of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) organized a demonstration in Ludhiana, expressing solidarity with their leader. The protest, aimed at the central government, saw AAP members raising slogans against the BJP-led administration and burning effigies as a symbolic gesture of defiance.
Accusing the BJP government of undermining democracy, AAP leaders and workers vehemently condemned Kejriwal’s arrest, denouncing it as a politically motivated move. Following the demonstration in Ludhiana, a contingent of AAP MLAs proceeded to Chandigarh, where they continued their protest against the central government’s actions.
The demonstration underscores the widening rift between the AAP and the ruling BJP, as tensions escalate over Kejriwal’s arrest and the perceived erosion of democratic values. As the political landscape grows increasingly contentious, AAP’s vocal opposition signals a resolute stance against what they perceive as authoritarian tendencies within the central government.
