The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has approached the High Court, requesting accommodation for its national convener, Arvind Kejriwal, in the capital city. AAP has demanded that the Centre provide housing for Kejriwal, arguing that, as the leader of a national political party, he is entitled to an official residence in Delhi.

AAP’s senior lawyer, representing the party in court, emphasized that the rules grant a residence to the head of any national political party. Therefore, AAP contends that former Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal should be allotted suitable accommodation by the government.

Justice Sanjiv Narula, presiding over the case, has scheduled a hearing for November 26. At this time, the court will examine AAP’s petition and has directed the Centre to respond to this request.

This case raises important questions about the entitlements of political leaders and the rules around housing allocations for heads of national parties. AAP maintains that this is a standard privilege that should be extended to Kejriwal, while the court’s upcoming decision could clarify the official stance on such entitlements.
