On Wednesday night, Russia launched a large-scale missile and drone attack on Ukraine, killing at least 9 people and injuring 63 others, including 6 children. Ukrainian officials confirmed the attack on Thursday and reported widespread damage in several regions.

The Kyiv City Military Administration revealed on its Telegram channel that the Russian forces targeted the capital city with drones and ballistic missiles. Taimur Takachenko, head of the city’s military administration, said the strikes led to fires in multiple residential buildings.

The terrifying night saw the skies over Kyiv lit up as air defense systems attempted to intercept the incoming threats. Despite efforts, several missiles managed to hit their targets, causing destruction in civilian areas.

Emergency services rushed to the affected sites to rescue those trapped under debris and provide medical help to the injured. Images from the ground showed damaged buildings, broken windows, and residents fleeing to underground shelters.

This attack is one of the deadliest in recent weeks and comes amid ongoing tensions between the two countries. Ukraine has accused Russia of deliberately targeting civilian areas, which Russia has denied in the past.

International leaders have once again condemned the violence and called for restraint. The United Nations and European Union expressed deep concern over the growing number of civilian casualties and urged Russia to end the attacks immediately.

The Ukrainian government has promised support to the families of the victims and vowed to continue defending the country. As the war drags on, innocent civilians remain the most affected, caught in the crossfire of an unending conflict.
