Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Qatar’s Amir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, in New Delhi today to discuss a range of issues, including trade, investment, technology, energy, and people-to-people relations. Both leaders agreed to elevate India-Qatar relations to a “strategic partnership” to further strengthen their deep ties.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the discussions also covered regional and global matters of mutual interest. The Amir of Qatar is on a two-day visit to India at the invitation of PM Modi. This marks his second visit to India since 2015.
Earlier in the day, the Qatari Amir received a ceremonial Guard of Honor at Rashtrapati Bhavan in the presence of President Droupadi Murmu. Following this, he and PM Modi held comprehensive talks at Hyderabad House.
During the meeting, both leaders emphasized enhancing economic cooperation and increasing investments. They exchanged agreements aimed at boosting strategic cooperation between the two nations. The visit is expected to pave the way for stronger diplomatic and economic relations between India and Qatar.
