In a significant move for the economically weaker sections of Punjab, the state cabinet, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, has taken a historic decision. Cabinet Minister Harpal Cheema informed that over 700 acres of land, which was meant for the poor for the last 30 years, had not been allotted to them.

Now, the Punjab government has decided to identify such land and sell it in the open market. The revenue generated from this will be used to acquire 1,500 acres of land in 10 major cities of Punjab. This land will then be allotted to families living below the poverty line, ensuring they get proper housing and land rights.

Additionally, the government has also made a significant decision to support acid attack victims. Their monthly pension, which was previously Rs 8,000, has now been increased to Rs 10,000. In another progressive step, third-gender individuals have also been included in this scheme, providing them financial assistance and social security.

This decision marks a crucial step in uplifting underprivileged sections of society and addressing long-pending land distribution issues in Punjab.
