In a shocking development, 17 people have died under mysterious circumstances in Rajouri, raising concerns among locals and authorities. As a precaution, over 200 individuals who came in contact with the affected families have been quarantined to prevent further spread of the unknown illness.
Four people, including three sisters, have been hospitalized after showing symptoms. Three of them were airlifted to a hospital in Jammu for advanced treatment. Officials confirmed that quarantine centers have been set up in the Nursing College and GMC Hospital in Rajouri to accommodate those exposed to the victims.
Local National Conference leader and MLA Javed Iqbal Chowdhury has called for the declaration of a medical emergency in the area. He emphasized the need for immediate action to contain the situation and prevent more fatalities.
Yesterday, Badhal village, where most of the cases have been reported, was declared a containment zone. Entry and exit from the village have been strictly restricted to curb the possible spread of the disease.
Authorities are working to identify the cause of the illness. Medical teams have been dispatched to the affected areas, and samples have been collected for analysis. Meanwhile, local residents are urged to follow health advisories and cooperate with officials during the investigation.
