Congress Accused of False Allegations
BJP leader Vinod Tawde demanded an apology from Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi over “false and baseless” accusations in the ‘cash for votes’ case in Maharashtra. Tawde was accused of distributing Rs 5 crore to influence voters, a claim he strongly denied.
Threat of Defamation Case
Tawde warned that if the Congress leaders do not issue an apology within 24 hours, he will file a defamation case against them. He accused the Congress of deliberately spreading lies to tarnish his and the BJP’s reputation.
Tawde Claims Innocence
The former Maharashtra minister and BJP national general secretary stated, “Congress only believes in spreading lies. This incident shows their low-level politics to malign me and my party.” Tawde emphasized that the allegations were unfounded and politically motivated.
Legal Notice Issued
A legal notice was sent to Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and Congress spokesperson Supriya Srinet, accusing them of knowingly making false claims. The notice demanded an unconditional apology for the baseless accusations.
Political Tensions Rise
The controversy has added to the growing tension between BJP and Congress, with Tawde firmly defending his innocence and vowing to take legal action if necessary.
