In a major encounter in Jalandhar, police successfully arrested two associates of the notorious Landa group. The operation, which took place near Kanganiwala village, involved a fierce exchange of gunfire, with both sides firing more than 50 rounds. The information was confirmed by Punjab’s Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav via X (formerly Twitter).
The encounter unfolded when the Jalandhar police, acting on the orders of Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma, surrounded the gangsters in the village. Upon being cornered, the miscreants opened fire, prompting a retaliatory response from the police. During the intense chase, two police officers sustained injuries. The gangsters were also injured during the shootout.
The arrested gangsters were involved in a range of criminal activities, including extortion and other heinous crimes across several districts in Punjab. In addition to the arrests, police recovered seven firearms and a significant number of cartridges from the suspects.
This operation marks a significant blow to the criminal activities of the Landa group, which has been involved in various illegal activities in the region.
