The Congress party voiced strong criticism against the Election Commission (EC) after it dismissed the party’s complaints of “irregularities” in the recent Haryana Assembly elections. Congress claimed the EC did not adequately address their concerns and, instead, “gave itself a clean chit.” The party expressed disappointment but said it was not surprised by the commission’s decision.

In a letter addressed to Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar, Congress raised concerns about the EC’s response, warning of potential legal action if certain statements about Congress were not reconsidered. The letter, signed by prominent Congress figures including General Secretary KC Venugopal, former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, and other senior leaders, underscored the party’s dissatisfaction with the EC’s handling of the complaints.

Congress maintains that it sought a fair review of the alleged election issues in Haryana. Party leaders argue that the dismissal of their complaints lacks transparency and accountability, which they believe compromises the credibility of the electoral process. The party has hinted at taking further legal steps to challenge the commission’s response if necessary.
