The Allahabad High Court today dismissed the Muslim side’s application seeking to withdraw the court’s January 11, 2023, order in the Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Eidgah case in Mathura. In the January 11 decision, the High Court had consolidated all the cases filed by the Hindu parties for a unified hearing.

Tasneem Ahmadi, a Supreme Court lawyer representing the Muslim side, argued that the consolidation of the cases would deprive them of the right to contest each case individually. Ahmadi also contended that consolidating the cases at this stage was premature, as the issues had not yet been decided and evidence had not been collected.

The Hindu side, however, opposed the withdrawal request, stating that the consolidation of the cases was within the court’s jurisdiction and could not be challenged.

The High Court ruled in favor of the Hindu side, rejecting the Muslim party’s plea. The consolidation of cases will continue as ordered in January, allowing for a single hearing on all the related matters. This case pertains to the ongoing legal dispute over the Krishna Janmabhoomi and Shahi Eidgah land in Mathura, with both parties laying claim to the site.
