The Election Commission has announced the dates for the Maharashtra and Jharkhand Assembly elections. Maharashtra will go to polls in a single phase on November 20, while Jharkhand’s elections will be held in two phases, on November 13 and 20. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar revealed these dates during a press conference.
Maharashtra’s Vidhan Sabha consists of 288 seats. Out of these, 25 seats are reserved for Scheduled Tribes (ST), 29 seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC), and the remaining 234 seats are general. The term of the current Maharashtra assembly will expire on November 26, 2024.
Jharkhand’s Vidhan Sabha, with 81 seats, will see its term end on January 5, 2025. In Jharkhand, 28 seats are reserved for Scheduled Tribes (ST), 9 for Scheduled Castes (SC), and 44 are general.
These elections are crucial for both states as the new governments will shape their political landscape in the coming years. With polling dates set, the campaign trails are expected to heat up as political parties vie for power in these important states.
