To combat the increase in pollution with the onset of winter, the Delhi government has imposed a ban on the production, storage, sale, and use of firecrackers until January 1, 2025. Delhi’s Environment Minister Gopal Roy made the announcement and urged citizens to support the government’s efforts to reduce air pollution.

Roy shared the news on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), explaining that the ban is a necessary step to address the rising pollution levels during the winter months. Effective immediately, the ban will include all types of firecrackers, even those sold online. The decision aims to ensure cleaner air quality for the residents of Delhi during the festive and winter season.

The Delhi Pollution Control Committee has issued detailed guidelines to ensure strict implementation of the ban, and the Delhi Police has been tasked with enforcing it across the city. Minister Roy also appealed to the public to cooperate and help the government in its effort to reduce air pollution, which worsens significantly during the winter due to several factors, including the use of firecrackers.

This step is part of a broader strategy by the government to control pollution and safeguard public health during the high-pollution months.
