The opposition alliance Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) in Maharashtra, comprising Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT), Sharad Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (SP), and the Congress, has released a scathing document titled ‘Gadarcha Panchnama’ (direct record of traitors), accusing the Eknath Shinde-led government of betrayal. The document alleges that the state government has acted against Maharashtra’s interests while favoring neighboring Gujarat.
At a press conference, Uddhav Thackeray condemned the split within Shiv Sena and NCP, claiming it was not just a betrayal of him and Sharad Pawar, but a betrayal of Maharashtra itself. He accused the ruling coalition ‘Mahayuti’, which includes Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar’s faction of the NCP, of failing to protect Maharashtra’s economic interests. Thackeray asserted that when the MVA returns to power, they will prioritize creating jobs for the people of Maharashtra.
The MVA criticized the Shinde government for not doing enough to prevent major industrial projects from moving to Gujarat. They also listed several allegations of corruption in the ‘Gadarcha Panchnama’, including the alleged procurement of legislators and councillors, manipulations in government transfers, corruption in the Dharavi redevelopment project, recruitment scams, and tender-related fraud in Mumbai’s concrete road project. The document also highlights the sharp rise in the prices of essential commodities under the current administration.
Congress Maharashtra unit president Nana Patole added that the Shinde government has even committed corruption in the installation of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj statue and failed to address rising crimes against women. Patole emphasized that the government must be removed, accusing it of spreading hatred and creating discord among castes and communities.
