Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal took a dig at his political opponents, drawing a parallel between Republican candidate Donald Trump’s promise to halve electricity rates and his own policies in India. Trump, in a video posted on X, promised to reduce energy and electricity prices by 50% within a year if elected as US President.
Reposting Trump’s message, Kejriwal humorously remarked that “freebies” have now reached America. He emphasized that even Trump is now offering benefits similar to those the Aam Aadmi Party provides in India, referring to subsidized electricity.
Kejriwal’s comment comes as a defense of his own policies, often criticized for placing a financial burden on the government. By highlighting Trump’s proposal, he pointed out that such measures are now being considered globally, further justifying his stance on providing essential services like electricity at lower rates.
