The Uttar Pradesh Police has filed a 3,200-page charge sheet against 11 individuals related to the Hathras stampede incident, which claimed the lives of 121 people. The stampede occurred during a religious gathering (satsang) in Hathras.
The defense counsel highlighted that Suraj Pal alias Bhole Baba, who addressed the satsang, is not mentioned in the charge sheet. The court has scheduled the hearing of the matter for October 4.
The police concluded their investigation within 91 days before filing the charge sheet. The initial FIR registered by the police had limited the number of attendees for the satsang event to 80,000 devotees. However, approximately 2,50,000 people gathered, leading to the tragic incident.
The main accused in the stampede has been identified as Devprakash Madhukar, according to the police.
