For the first time in a decade, voters in seven districts of Jammu and Kashmir are set to cast their ballots. The preparations for the elections in the Union Territory’s first phase were completed on Wednesday. A total of 219 candidates, including 90 independent contenders, are participating in the election. Three districts in the Jammu region and four districts in the Kashmir Valley will witness over 2.3 lakh voters exercising their right to vote. This marks a significant moment as it is the first election in Jammu and Kashmir since the revocation of Article 370 in August 2019, which changed its constitutional status.
