In a major political development, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Bibi Atishi has been named the next Chief Minister of Delhi following the resignation of Arvind Kejriwal. The decision was unanimously approved by the party during a meeting on Tuesday. Atishi, who has been a prominent face of both the government and the party, will now lead the state.

Delhi minister and senior AAP leader Gopal Rai confirmed the news, stating that after Kejriwal’s resignation, AAP will formally present its claim to form the government under Atishi’s leadership. AAP MLAs are expected to meet with Lt. Governor VK Saxena to finalize the next steps.

The party’s decision was taken during a legislative party meeting at Kejriwal’s residence, where the proposal to appoint Atishi as his successor received unanimous support. Gopal Rai, who is also the convener of AAP’s Delhi unit, mentioned that decisions regarding the ministers to be part of Atishi’s new cabinet will be made later.
